Hard Disk Partition Step Wise

Step – 1

• First right click on the icon of My Computer.
• If you use Windows 10, then you have to right click on the icon of This PC.
• After that click on Manage option.

Steps – 2

• Now a new window of Computer Management will open in front of you.
• In this you have to click on the option of Disk Management on the left.

Steps – 3

• Now if you have bought a new computer or laptop, then only you will see Drive C, D, E here. And if your computer or laptop already has several drives built in, then they will be visible.
• You have to right click on the drive you want to partition here.
• For example, suppose that you have to partition Drive D, then pay attention to this. You have to right click on Drive D itself.
• From the option that appears after right-clicking, you have to click on Shrink Volume.

Steps – 4

• Now after this a small window will open, in which you have to write the size of your new drive in MB in front of “Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB”.
• The number of GB you want to make a new drive, you have to fill the amount of GB in MB.
• 1 GB = 1024 MB. Accordingly, suppose you want to make a new drive of 50GB, then you have to write 50 X 1024 = 51200 MB.
• After that click on the Shrink button below.

Steps – 5

• Now a new Unallocated Volume will appear in front of you at the bottom.
• You have to right click on it.
• On right-clicking, you will see the option, from which you have to click on New Simple Volume.

• After that a new window will open, in that you just have to do Next.

Steps – 6

• After doing Next, the page of Assign Drive Letter or Path will be open. In which you have to select Drive Letter of New Volume.
• You can choose any letter by clicking on Drop Down Menu.
• After that you have to click on Next.

Steps – 7

• After doing Next, the page of Format Partition will open. In which you have to tick "Format this Volume with the Following Settings".
• After that let the File System – NTFS be the same. And let Allocation Unit Size – Default remain the same.
• And then you can give any name of your New Drive under Volume Label, or leave it as New Volume.
• After that click on Perform a quick format and click on Next.
• After clicking on Next, simply click on Finish in the page that will open.

As soon as you click Finish, a new drive will be created on your computer or laptop. So in this way you can very easily do Hard Disk Drive Partition in your computer or laptop.
